But didn't start dating until seven and a half years later.
He was Superman, she was Robin—college parties always need a costume. With their friends, they danced, splashed in Rudder Fountain, dined at IHOP, and played hide-and-seek around the Texas A&M campus until the sun came up. It was the ultimate first night.
They became nearly inseparable friends. From study groups to Sunday Night Dinners to ski class on Mt. Aggie. But Carrie never got the hint about how Matt felt. Matt went on to pursue other dreams at that school down in Austin and ultimately got his degree in Physics at the University of Texas. After earning her degree in International Business at A&M, Carrie left to see the world and hoped to do some good and share some love along the way.
After a few years away from Texas, Carrie decided to return to her roots. The two reconnected over Ethiopian food (what Matt would consider a first date).
When Matt's job sent him to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for several months, Carrie thought the spark would fade and the two would go back to being friends who caught up every now and again.
"I promise to Skype you at least once while you're gone."
And Carrie kept that promise. The two talked every day while Matt worked in Malaysia.
When Matt returned Stateside, the two started dating, and got engaged a year later.
And that's just the beginning of the story for Matt Koos and Carrie Hokanson...
After a day adventuring around our favorite hiking spot, Enchanted Rock, Matt dropped his knee and asked Carrie to be his lifetime teammate. She happily agreed. We celebrated the start of a new journey together with whiskey, laughter, and a beautiful view of the Hill Country. And Thai takeout.

None of this would be possible without the love and labor of our wonderful friends and family! Thank you!
